Segreteria Assomusica

Assomusica President, Vincenzo Spera: "Satisfaction" for 10% VAT on artistic performance"

"We welcome this measure absolutely. We expected thath since 2007. " So Assomusica President, Vincenzo Spera, comments with AgCult the rule contained in the Maneuver that brings to the 10% the VAT for "theatrical performances of any type, including opera, ballet, prose, operetta, musical comedy, magazine; vocal and instrumental concerts; circus activities and traveling performances, shows of puppets and puppets wherever they are kept ", extending these provisions also to the" related services provided by intermediaries ".
"Our satisfaction - says Spera - is enormous. We worked together with parliamentarians, ministers, to come to a conclusion of this path, with a new interpretation of reality. We thank the government that has adopted this norm and all those who have worked for us. "
"Many years ago - says Spera - the artistic performance was different from what we have today. In the past there was a singer, an opera theater, where there was already director and stage design. Today is different, today the concerts are performances traveling in all directions, with lights, scenographers, directors, sound engineers, everything that comes with the artist. It was necessary to bring the discourse to the present and to align the VAT to the artistic performance as a whole. "
"Very often," adds Spera, "it's not easy to understand the problems of our industry, among those few who are growing. Where legislation helps and facilitates work, it is more likely that growth will continue. In this regard I do not hide that even the new code of live entertainment code, which is about to land at the Chamber of Deputies, contains important elements for the definition of rules and roles in this sector. Here too, a lot of work has been done with those who wrote the law, a work also elaborated on the territories. "

IQ MAGAZINE: “MISSED OPPORTUNITY”: DUTCH SENATE SHOOTS DOWN TOUTING BILL

The Ticketwet (Ticket Act) would have enabled ticket buyers who paid more than 20% above face value to have reclaimed the overpaid amount

Dutch member of parliament Jasper van Dijk has criticised as a “huge missed opportunity” the rejection of a bill that would have ensured consumers who had bought a ticket for more than 20% above face value would be reimbursed.

If passed, the Ticket Act (Ticketwet), proposed by Socialist Party MP van Dijk and Christian Democratic Appeal (CDA)’s Madeleine van Toorenburg, would have enabled buyers to claim back the overpaid amount. This could, says van Dijk, have been achieved via collective litigation or through a dispute committee.

It was defeated in the Dutch senate yesterday afternoon by ‘no’ votes from the Labour Party, the People’s Party for Freedom and Democracy and other CDA MPs. The bill had already passed the lower house, the House of Representatives, in 2010.

BILLBOARD: Austin City Limits After Las Vegas: Attendees & Performers Talk Festival Safety, Refunds & Not Giving In to Fear

ust over a week has passed since a gunman opened fire on attendees at Las Vegas' Route 91 Harvest country music festival as they watched Jason Aldeanperform. With 58 killed and hundreds injured, the attack sparked national conversations about how to define terrorism, enacting stricter gun control measures, and festival safety.

Those dialogues inevitably continued throughout the debut weekend of Austin City Limits 2017 (Oct. 6-8), which was the first major U.S. music festival since the Las Vegas shooting. Among participating artists, workers and patrons, the tone almost unanimously veered toward a defiantly optimistic sentiment in the face of the attack.

IQ MAGAZINE: “RETURN TO NORMAL” AS FRENCH LIVE AUDIENCES GROW IN 2017

The new Baromètre du Live shows audience numbers have returned to growth for the first time since 2015, as French concertgoers feel safer at a show than in everyday life

The French live music industry is approaching a “return to normal” following the events of November 2015, new research suggests, with audience numbers showing a “significant increase” of 6% compared to last year.

Industry association Prodiss today presented the results of its annual Baromètre du Live at the MaMA Convention in Paris, focusing especially on the return to health of the live sector following the attack on the Bataclan almost two years ago.

Baromètre du Live 2017, based on a survey conducted by Harris Interactive, reveals that after a “slightly depressed 2016, probably due to the impact of the attacks”, 2017 has seen 42% of all French people attending at least one live show, up from 36% in 2016, 38% in 2015 and 31% in 2014. This “steady increase”, says Prodiss, “appears to be a kind of ‘return to normal’” as the sector continues its recovery, bolstered by improved feelings of safety and a perception that live entertainment provides an “antidote” to an atmosphere of crisis.

Indeed, nearly four in five respondents (79%) said they feel “somewhat” or “very” safe when they attend a show or festival – an increase of 5% on 2016’s Baromètre – despite a falling feeling of everyday security, with only 56% reporting they feel secure in their daily lives; down 6% on last year. (However, all this extra security has come at a cost: IQ revealed in April 87 of France’s biggest festivals spent a combined €3.74 million on security last year– an average of €13,613 each per day.)

IQ MAGAZINE: EU WORKERS’ DIRECTIVE ‘COULD LEAD TO TOUR CANCELLATIONS’

An amendment to the posted workers' directive enshrining equal pay across the European Union "hardly takes into consideration" the needs of the live biz, says Pearle*

European live industry association Pearle* has warned that proposed EU legislation on the rights of ‘posted workers’ risks undermining the touring sector.

The European parliament’s employment committee voted on 16 October in favour of a revision to the Posting of Workers Directive 1996, proposed by MEPs Elisabeth Morin-Chartier (France) and Agnes Jongerius (Netherlands), which rules that EU workers in another member state are entitled to the same remuneration, including bonuses, as local workers.

A press release from the EU says the new legislation would ensure that “posted workers are better protected”, with Jongerius calling the bill “an important step to create a social Europe that protects workers and makes sure there is fair competition”.

“We must stop the race to the bottom in the European labour market,” she says, “to reach the goal of equal pay for equal work at the same workplace.”

NIMPE PARTNERS MEET WITH LJUBLJANA MUSIC COMMUNITY, SLOVENIA

NIMPE partners meet again between 9th and 11th of October, in Ljubjlana this time. Following the philosophy of NIMPE’s kickoff meeting, last February in Volos, encounteer of NIMPE partners project representatives will be combined wih a series of meetings with local Slovenian Music scene. Beside the adminitrtative and operational aims of the events will be an opportunity to evaluate partners first semester collaboration, dicuss about the up-coming Music Factory activities, and next steps of development of NIMPE community.

SKUC, NIMPEs slovenian partner and meeting host, is one of the leading non-governmental organisations promoting non-profit cultural and artistic activity in Slovenia. It holds the status of an association working in the public interest in the cultural field. Its beginnings date back to Ljubljana’s first radical student movement of 1968, while it was formally established on 31 January 1972. In the late 1970s and in the 1980s ŠKUC was one of the key initiators, supporters and promoters of alternative culture. Today, ŠKUC’s main goals are to support young and promising artists by including them in the cultural sphere and to organise creative spare-time activities for young people.

In the past few years the activities of ŠKUC have expanded to areas such as providing information and counselling for young people, education, library and archive resources, social affairs, prevention, social sciences, the humanities as well as research activities. It has also acquired the status of an association working in the public interest in the area of health care.

ŠKUC actively co-operates with similar youth centres from across Slovenia, as well as with other organisations, mainly through programme exchange. The ŠKUC premises located at 21 Stari trg, Ljubljana, are open to many organisations organising events such as round tables, seminars, talks with journalists, dance performances, lectures on various social, art and topical issues, video projections etc.

ŠKUC is involved in the following activities:

V I S U A L A R T S

In the late 1970s, ŠKUC opened its own exhibition space as a response to the mainstream exhibition policy of established national galleries and art institutions in Slovenia at the time. The Škuc Gallery has been located at 21 Stari trg in Ljubljana since 1978. In the 1980s the Gallery became the centre of alternative (sub)culture in Slovenia. Since the outset the Gallery has also been engaged in presenting contemporary visual art from the international scene. The Gallery organises solo exhibitions of both young Slovenian and world-renowned artists, collaborates with visiting curators and prominent European institutions and galleries, publishes specialist publications, and organises lectures and workshops. The Škuc Gallery has become an important exhibition, entertainment, publishing, research and documentation centre of contemporary visual arts. Information about current exhibitions and other activities can be found at www.galerijaskuc.si/.

M U S I C

The ŠKUC Association music program targets music culture users interested in contemporary, urban trends across music genres. The beginnings of the ŠKUC music section date back to the 1980s. To recap: the first folk album by Tomaž Pengov, the first punk album by Pankrti, the first post-modernist happening by Laibach, the organisation of the majority of foreign act concerts in Slovenia as well as a number of Slovenian acts from the 1980s onwards. We published the first fanzine. The sections involved in organising music events were ROPOTBUBA, ART ROCK and AFK. In the 1980s, ŠKUC organised the famous Rock in Opposition festival (1980–1984), the Ankaran/Coastal Scene festival (1987–1994) and without a doubt the most important rock event in Slovenia called Novi Rock (1981-2003).

Regarding the two-day meeting, SKUC  has organised panel discussions, round tables and concerts. Events include thematic program with presentations of best practices, workshops, coaching and mentoring sessions. For more information please visit SKUC facebook page
